We believe that the Goal of Orthodox Christian Youth Ministry is the integration of each young person fully into the total life of the Church. We believe that Orthodox Christians must commit themselves to living the Orthodox Faith daily. Worship, Witness, Service and Fellowship are the natural expressions of that commitment.
Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA)
The Greek Orthodox Youth of America, or GOYA, is the ministry to young persons age 12-18 of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Stamford. Since GOYA is a ministry, the orientation and implementation of the program should reflect the Orthodox Christian Faith, Tradition and Life. GOYA is ministry to junior high and high school grade Orthodox Christian teenagers. Teenagers should be in seventh through twelfth grades to participate. The mission and goal of GOYA is to lead our young people into experiencing the Holy Orthodox Faith. By developing a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and becoming active sacramental members of the living Church, our young people will be equipped with tools necessary to assist them in their journey toward salvation. GOYA meets at various times and holds events throughout the year.
Hope & JOY
Holy Orthodox Primary Education, or HOPE, ministers to children in Kindegarten through 2nd grade. Junior Orthodox Youth, or JOY, ministers to children in 3rd through 6th grade. The mission and goal of the HOPE and JOY ministry is to lead our young people into experiencing the Holy Orthodox Faith. By developing a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and becoming active sacramental members of the living church, our young people will be equipped with tools necessary to assist them in their journey toward salvation. By building on the foundation of faith at this age, the young people will have something that will guide and strengthen them as they progress into junior high and high school. Here at Annunciation Church, both HOPE and JOY are combined into one ministry with the mission to strengthen the relationship of our youngest Orthodox Christians with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, encouraging them to become active sacramental participants in the life of the Body of Christ through various activities and projects.
